Default So my isp sniped me for downloading...

So i just downloaded xp a couple of day ago. Didn't burn it on a CD or anything on azeruous (sp)? Then like two days i get an email saying that I broke their eua, aup for unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material and that they can take action against me that they deem necessary.

Then the business software alliance and the Canadian Alliance Against software theft is like somehow involved saying they determined where they found it and posted like my ip with the file for like distributing stuff.

I followed this link in the email and said that i got rid of it and then promptly deleted anything that i have downloaded so far, like warcraft even though i got the legit keys.

So like what do i do?

Freaking crazy scared here omg omg omg

If you downloaded it illegally then yes you broke the eua. All you really do is redownload anything that you had legit keys for. You should be okay with WoW as its a download game and you already have an account.

Wow, that is scary for anyone out there that downloads stuff, which is alot of people. I remember hearing on the radio that they are cracking down on illegal music downloads especially.

Hmm... from what I get you're Canadian (Canadian Alliance Against Software Theft mention O_o) and this thing shouldn't be happening. Some ISPs might have the right to monitor your downloads, but if this one doesn't... >_>... because it could be taken as an "attempt to private life"? (direct translation from French, got a blank here). I think this is the only thing as why peer-to-peer programs are "legit" here (that and the "don't share, but download is okay" thing).

And like pwnd said, if you have legit keys, you have the right to download those programs or make PERSONAL copies of the software (unless indicated by the company, and I'm not sure I ever saw this on WinXP stuff O_o... I could be wrong on this one).

If you're American, sorry, I can't help much x.x'. Don't know the regulations on download down there.
